Found myself near Cobden bridge, in Southampton, armed with my recently converted , “full spectrum” Lumix DMC-GH2 Micro Four Thirds camera. This was converted just before Christmas 2025 by Protech Photographic<\/a> in Crowborough. So I thought I would capture some images of Cobden bridge by Infrared…<\/strong><\/p>\n

ngg_shortcode_0_placeholderCobden bridge is a busy road and pedestrian bridge crossing the River Itchen. It forms part of the A3035. The bridge itself is around 110 metres long links the suburbs of Bitterne Park and St Denys.  <\/p>\n

My kit<\/h2>\n

As with most of my IR work so far, I used a Fourth Eye variable infrared filter, screwed on the front of a bog-standard Lumix 14mm-42mm \u201ckit lens\u201d. Whilst many photographers do not consider this to be a great<\/em> lens, it seems perfectly adequate, one might even say ideal,<\/em> for near-infrared. This time, I set my variable infrared filter between 630nm and 760nm. The near-monochrome shots are the ones shot with the longer wavelength light. I then retouched the images in GIMP<\/a> (GNU Image Manipulation Program). This included white balance and colour palette rotation.<\/p>\n
