Experimenting with Fujian 35mm f/1.7 CCTV lens. This is a cheap £10.00 lens off eBay. It is designed for CCTV. However with a simple £1.00  “C” to µ4/3 adaptor it fits nicely and works well with my little Lumix DMC GX7. These are some of the results…

Actually, I’m a big fan of the cheapie Fujian 35mm f/1.7. Basically it’s a petzval lens for under a tenner (if you shop around). It’s surprisingly well-made too – all metal and glass And the addition of a couple of £1 “C” to “CS” adaptors, it becomes a fairly credible macro lens too. And its not particularly cleanly cut iris blades means it does great swirly bokeh.

µ4/3

I also rather like µ4/3 format cameras. Granted these ore not everyone’s cup of tea. However, it’s smaller sensor ~ 17 mm x 13 mm and its short flange distance 19.25 mm makes it ideal for experimenting with “toy” lenses. In a nutshell, it means firstly that you get to use the best part of the lens (the bit in the middle) and secondly you have a huge choice of vintage and toy type MF lenses that you can lark-about with. Even better, µ4/3 is an open standard. This means anyone can make lenses and adaptors for it. Which means that connecting odd or unusual glass is not merely very straightforward, it’s also dirt cheap.
