Creating this year’s card

This year we wanted to do something a little different. So we decided to deploy Stable Diffusion open source artificial intelligence to generate the main image. Unfortunately AI is not good at drawing signs. So that was created in Inkscape. The final image was put together and tweaked in GIMP.

However, the real story isn’t the AI generated Christmas card itself. It is the 2000+ attempts it took in order to generate the picture we finally selected. Some of these were quite amusing, or simply downright weird. You can see a selection of these failures, for yourself, here.
