United States invades Venezuela

Seems this time it’s Venezuela’s turn to have its infrastructure destroyed and its citizens blown to pieces. Trump claims it’s to stem a drug problem and that President Nicholas Maduro wasn’t fairly elected. Much of the world thinks United States’ Invasion of Venezuela is mostly to satisfy the United States’ insatiable appetite for other people’s oil.

United States invasion of Venezuela takes place as doubts grow about Trump’s cognitive health. Meanwhile, the Trump administration looks for ever more drastic ways to deflect attention from his ever-deepening Epstein scandal.

Countries that the United States has bombed

Since “FIFA Peace Prize” winner Donald J Trump took office:-

  1. Syria
  2. Iraq
  3. Iran
  4. Nigeria
  5. Yemen
  6. Somalia
  7. Venezuela

Countries Trump has threatened to invade

Other than those listed above.

  1. Canada
  2. Greenland
  3. Mexico
  4. Panama

Meantime Republican senator and Trump brown-noser Lyndsey Graham has suggested that China should be next.

I find it astounding that Trump is using alleged “drug trafficking” as a pretext for this invasion. Trump issued a full and complete pardon to former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández last month, leading to his release from a United States federal prison. He was serving a 45-year sentence for drug trafficking. This particular illegal invasion, the US also kidnapped the invaded country’s president, while Trump says the US will run Venezuela directly. Critics inside and outside the United States have quipped that under Trump, the US can’t even run itself these days.

UN Secretary General  Antonio Guterres condemns the attack outright as illegal. “These developments constitute a dangerous precedent,” Guterres’ spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said in a statement. “The Secretary-General continues to emphasise the importance of full respect – by all – of international law, including the UN Charter. He’s deeply concerned ‌that the rules of international law have not been respected.

I’d imagine that Greenland’s and Canada’s political classes must have a view on this, since Trump has threatened their countries with invasion too. Though both governments seem surprisingly quiet publicly. Meantime, British Prime Minister Sir Kier Starmer refuses to say anything at all. I’m still trying to figure out why? Shock? Fear? Appeasement?

Time will tell, I guess…
