New Forest
Just taken the MX5 for a little spin across the New Forest. Naturally, we made plenty of stops for photos.
I’m seldom more than a few metres from a camera and I generally have one in my pocket, bag or car. These are a few snaps from my various travels.

Today we took a road trip to the Otter Sanctuary near Longdown in the New Forest.
I arranged to meet up with an on-line photographer friend in Shoreham, in Sussex. I had arrange to collect a pair of fluorescent plat-panel continuous studio lights from him. I decided to make a few stops en route and grab a few snaps. For some strange reason, large, out-of-place structures always seem to interest me….
[Reproduced from DEOSS ] Seems that Micro$haft’s corporate enslavement permeates far beyond the English-speaking world. A long and complex legal battle is currently raging in the former Eastern Bloc state of Hungary. APEH (the Hungarian Tax Office) has decided that all Hungarian businesses now have to submit their tax returns on-line. This would not be…
Been working on the computer and experimenting with my Icom IC-R20 radio scanner for a couple of days. So I thought it was time to get some fresh air, and perhaps take some more pictures of a snow-covered Pécs, Hungary.
Spent Christmas with my girlfriend’s folks and it snowed quite hard. So I thought I’d get out and grab a few snaps of Pécs before it melts.
Just spent a very cold and snowy New Years Eve in Pécs, Hungary.
Winter in Pécs, Hungary. Spent the day wandering around the town and doing a bit of shopping in Árkád – the main shopping centre. And of course, taking lots of photos.
Spending Christmas and New Yerwith my girlfriend’s folks in Christmas in Pécs, Hungary. Spent most of today in the town, wading through the snow and drinking hot coffee and brandy in a café.
I found myself at the 50th Anniversary Trabifest in Zwickau in the former East Germany. Not sure I fully understand the enthusiasm for these funny little cars – though I did find myself becoming bitten by the bug. I guess there is a large cultural element to this phenomenon. It seems the humble Trabi has…
Summer in Pécs, Hungary. Trip to Tetye to meet Charles Barca, the guy behind Black Panther Linux.
Yesterday we drove to Lincoln to meet Robert Simpson, the guy behind the the Riddings Drop in Centre internet café. Today we had a day off, time to take some snaps of the beautiful Lincoln Cathedral.
A trip to photograph the Welsh Rally courtesy of Duncan Woods at Taran Microsystems.
Today I took a wander through the Southampton suburb of Shirley, mostly to photograph the graffiti in a little alley called Harrison’s Cut. The artwork is actually quite stunning in places, though I don’t suppose the homeowners are terribly happy about it. I used my new Lumix DMC-LX1 point-and-shoot digital camera. Considering its diminutive size,…
Jules Holland and UB40 performed on the Common this evening. So I wandered across to take a few snaps.
Today, I was fortunate enough to be invited to the Pécs Organ Factory, to take some pictures of the very fine work that goes on there.
Today we took a boat trip from from Mui Wo to Cheung Chau, and had a bit of a wander.
A few snaps around Mui Wo, the massive bike sheds and some of the vessels that dock there.
Wandered into Pécs town again today and took a few snaps. In particular I wanted to grab a few images of Pécs’ very stylish Hotel Palatinus just as the lights come on. Located a few metres from the town centre, and set back a little from the main thoroughfare, Kyraly Utca, it is easy to…
Traubi or traubisoda is a brand of soft drink flavoured with grape juice. It is produced in Hungary, Austria and Croatia. Before 1995, in Hungary, it was made by a factory called Traubi Hungaria located in the village of Balatonvilágos. The company produces the drink from a special type of Hungarian grapes, called saszla. The…
Walking back to Pécs through the snow. Today, even the rougher prts of town have a strange beauty, now they’re covered with snow.
Girlfriend and I stayed overnight at the Batthyány Kastélyszálló, a few kilometres from Pécs. Interesting place – it was lovely outside, but a bit rough inside, with plaster literally peeling off the walls. Still, it was good fun.
The Hungarian city of Pécs shortly after a snowfall.
Today we visited Hungary’s 10th largest city, Szombathely, to visit a chap who has invented a rather nifty LED ring flash unit.
