A few snaps in the garden
Garden looks unusually pretty this year. Especially considering I have no gardening skills or inclination whatsoever. But I do quite enjoy taking photos.
These are a few general observations that might be of interest to some people.

Britain has made a complete hash of metrication whilst failing to teach its young the basic numeracy skills to deal with the ridiculous anomalies that have arisen as a result. E.g… People who think 7.5 lbs is the same as 7 lb 5 oz. People who think of 0 as freezing 0 as boiling and…
Today we took a road trip to the Otter Sanctuary near Longdown in the New Forest.
I had a lovely model called Onna come down from London today for a retro technology photo shoot. While she was here, she posed with some of my favourite radios, including my Icom IC-R20 and my AOR AR 8200 handheld communications receivers. Which I continued to photograph long after she had gone home. Here are…
I arranged to meet up with an on-line photographer friend in Shoreham, in Sussex. I had arrange to collect a pair of fluorescent plat-panel continuous studio lights from him. I decided to make a few stops en route and grab a few snaps. For some strange reason, large, out-of-place structures always seem to interest me….
Winter in Pécs, Hungary. Spent the day wandering around the town and doing a bit of shopping in Árkád – the main shopping centre. And of course, taking lots of photos.
I found myself at the 50th Anniversary Trabifest in Zwickau in the former East Germany. Not sure I fully understand the enthusiasm for these funny little cars – though I did find myself becoming bitten by the bug. I guess there is a large cultural element to this phenomenon. It seems the humble Trabi has…
“10 pc Cybercafé for 30ukp!!!!” was the triumphant claim of a recent post on the Puppy Linux users forum… http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?search_id=326686869&t=12714 Thirty pounds sterling is about fifty US dollars – not a lot of money. Needless to say my colleagues and I were intrigued and perhaps even a tad sceptical. More intriguing was the claim that…
They say there is nothing like a healthy breakfast. And this is nothing like a healthy breakfast. And it was around most normal people’s tea time. But I love a bloody good fry-up from time-to-time, and this one was truly delicious. 🙂
A trip to photograph the Welsh Rally courtesy of Duncan Woods at Taran Microsystems.
Today, I was fortunate enough to be invited to the Pécs Organ Factory, to take some pictures of the very fine work that goes on there.
Garf Technology is something of a ‘lifestyle business‘. This is where one is more concerned with doing things ‘well‘ & enjoying it, rather than trying to make a ‘fast buck‘. Or as a more sceptical observer might put it: somehow I manage to get paid to do my various hobbies! I love it! Sometimes I…
Wandered into Pécs town again today and took a few snaps. In particular I wanted to grab a few images of Pécs’ very stylish Hotel Palatinus just as the lights come on. Located a few metres from the town centre, and set back a little from the main thoroughfare, Kyraly Utca, it is easy to…
Traubi or traubisoda is a brand of soft drink flavoured with grape juice. It is produced in Hungary, Austria and Croatia. Before 1995, in Hungary, it was made by a factory called Traubi Hungaria located in the village of Balatonvilágos. The company produces the drink from a special type of Hungarian grapes, called saszla. The…
Day trip to London to see the lights..
Portsmouth’s Highbury College shortly after it received a fairly major refurbishment.
Went to a concert at Kenwood House, London, which was followed by some quite spectacular fireworks.
A few snaps of the Isle of Grain off the coast of Kent, south-east England. It’s not actually an island any more and forms part of the Hoo peninsula. The the area is mostly marshland and is an important habitat for a number of wild wetland birds.
Bought my girlfriend this little angel fairly thing. Thought I better grab a few snaps before I gave it to her.
I found myself in Portsmouth one sunny afternoon, taking my new MGF in for yet more warranty repairs. Fortunately, I got rid of the wretched thing now! Anyway, back to the plot: to make a virtue of necessity, I decided to make a small detour and take some pix of the aging Tricorn Centre. Hailed…
The old MGF was very pretty but incredibly unreliable. Eventually after a fight, MG Rover swapped it for a new one. Today we went to collect it. Camera: the tiny Canon Digital Ixus.
Spent the day at Kew Gardens in London with some friends.
Road trip to Lymington and across the New Forest in the MGF roadster.
